WISE's Lifelong Impact on a Family and on Global Environmental Conservation

What do Eric Hertz, Cade and Teal Harrison-Hertz, Franny Hertz, and Emilia and Isabel Stern have in common? A love for outdoor adventure and WISE. The articles in this newsletter celebrate WISE's lifelong impact on a family and on environmental conservation.

Feature Article: WISE Project Inspires Eric Hertz's Passion for Environmental Conservation

Eric Hertz's WISE project was a stepping stone to his career in global environmental conservation. During his senior year at Woodlands High School in 1973, Eric canoed down the Toms River in New Jersey, discovering  and becoming frustrated with the legal water pollution. Since WISE, Eric has taken an active role in preserving threatened rivers. He founded Earth River Expeditions, a company specializing in wilderness expeditions.

WISE Runs in the Family

Eric's two sons, Cade and Teal, also pursued their passions through WISE. Franny Hertz, Eric's sister and current WISE coordinator at Rondout Valley High School, did a WISE project too-as did her daughters Emilia and Isabel Stern.
