Opening a Mobile Thrift Store

Isabel Stern explored her interest in sustainable design in her WISE project two years ago. As a senior at Rondout Valley High School in 2012, Isabel created a mobile thrift store. By embellishing old clothes with studs, lace, and tie-dye, she created new and stylish clothing to sell to her peers. Every day Isabel assembled tables and laid out her redesigned clothes in front of the school cafeteria. She donated the money from sales to an animal rights organization. Isabel also provided twenty bags of clothes to Family of Woodstock, a community service agency that provides people with donated clothes free of charge.

Isabel is currently in her junior year of college at University of Delaware and is pursuing a BFA.
